Tá fáilte romhat … (there’s a welcome before you … )
The Black Mirror Theatre (Amharclann an Scáthán Dubh i nGaeilge) strives to present productions of substance with clarity and simplicity. Additionally, we intend to have a direct and positive financial impact in our community as well as to provide a bridge into the world of professional theatre for students and alumni of the St. Louis Community College’s theatre program.
All of Black Mirror’s proceeds from its production of Didn’t You See Us? – part of the StLou Fringe Festival in August, 2017 – were donated to UNICEF and matched through generous patron contributions. For each attendee of our show, Lisa, My Friend, performed 12 times at the 2017 Grand Center Theatre Crawl, June and July, 2017, a donation was made to Operation Backpack, which strives to ensure no St. Louis area school child goes hungry over off-school periods (weekends and summer). These efforts will continue.
It is our belief that if the same number of children who went to bed hungry / needy on opening night, no matter how grand the show, went to bed in the same condition on closing night, then our efforts went for naught. We will not let that stand.
